Integrity must be uphold all the time when you want to achieve your academic goals but sadly academic fraud or academic dishonesty is very prevalent nowadays. It is very common in many forms and is widely practiced by many students who want an easy route to achieve their chosen degree.
Academic fraud or academic dishonesty is any types of cheating that usually occurs relatively to a formal academic exercise. Academic fraud could either be plagiarism, cheating, bribery, misrepresentation, conspiracy, fabrication, collusion, duplicate submission, academic misconduct, deception, impersonation and disruptive behavior.

In the Philippines, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) records the series of leakage of the nationwide Nursing Licensure Examination from 2006 to 2015. More than a dozen incidents happened during that duration of time that involves the Board of Nursing (BON) members that circulates the leakage of the answers of the licensure examinations. The result created a controversy in the country which revoked numerous nursing students that took their oath the following year.

To prevent these malicious practices there are ways to prevent it. Students should read the syllabus carefully, seek clarification from their teachers or professors regarding their school and class policies, always be attentive to the class and always assume that there will be assignments unless your teacher or professors indicate otherwise. Don’t share your assignments with others. Keep track of your sources and learn the citation correctly. Don’t display your answers during exams and most of all, always practice honesty and integrity.
